Easy tips for Happier, Healthier Menstrual Cycle

It's that time of the month again! Periods do not have to be so stressful if you learn how.

1)Take pain killers
The cramps are caused by the uterus contracting and shedding its own lining. Ibuprofen is usually just as good as things like Midol and can be obtained over the counter. However, different things work for different people. Bear in mind that pain killers are not necessary and should only be taken when the cramps are really painful.

2)Find the best product for you
Wear comfortable pads or tampons. Which you choose is completely up to you ,try different brands until you find one that works best for you.

3) Change your pad/panty liner/tampon regularly.
Don't wear your tampons for over 8 hours because this can lead to a severe medical condition known as Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). Make sure not to wear panty liners or pads for a long time. This can make them start to smell! Change panty liners and pads often.

4)Dress for comfort
Avoid tight clothes, especially at the waist. They only hurt the stomach and further compressing it causes discomfor.

5) Stay hydrated
Drinking lots of water helps you with your periods by clearing out your system. It also makes you feel better in general. It also makes your monthly cycle go around better, instead of having irregular periods.

6) Alter your diet
Try to incorporate more potassium into your diet by eating foods such as bananas. Avoid salty and sugary foods.

7) Exercise
Having exercise helps strengthen the pelvic muscles and makes lighter periods. It also stops fat forming around the ovaries.

8)Get some rest
It will keep your body in balance and you won't feel as bad. If you can, take a day off to relieve stress, since that's what makes your flow heavier.

9)Have a hot shower
Concentrate the flow of water on your back and abdomen. A hot water bag also helps to relieve discomfort.

10)Make yourself feel better
be kind to yourself .. relax, read a book, listen to some soft music or chat up with friends. If you feel happy and rejuvenated, your mind will help you fight physical pain.

Hope you found this post helpful. Until next time, take care!
